Born in Johannesburg, I studied Fine Art first at the National School of the Arts and then at Wits University. At art school I focused on painting and printmaking, and at university on painting and sculpture under the guidance of artists such as Peter Schütz, Karel Nel and Clive van den Berg.

After living for a short time in Gaborone, Botswana, I returned to South Africa to live and work in Cape Town.

My favourite medium is oil paint. I take pleasure in its smell and texture and the way it mixes, spreads and looks in layers. But I like to find and combine materials and believe that inspired art can can be made out of absolutely anything.
